FABRIC DYE - FOR HAND USE

EACH PACK CONTAINS 50g

DYLON Fabric Dyes for hand use are perfectly suited for smaller items like shorts, vests or socks, and for delicates you’d rather not put in the machine like wool and silk. You have a rainbow of beautiful colours to choose from, and whether you’re refreshing an army of black socks or want an uplifting hit of colour with vibrant tights you can be sure of beautiful colour and permanent results you’ll be happy to show off!

...and don’t forget, for effective dyeing you’ll need to add salt 500g pack available on this listing (see instructions for details).

What fabrics can I dye?
A
Cotton, linen and viscose will dye to the full shade shown on the pack Mixtures of these with polyester will result in lighter shades Polyester, Nylon and other synthetics can not be dyed Wool and silk can be dyed with DYLON Hand Fabric Dye.

Will dye cover up bleach marks?
A
As bleach can harm the fabric, dyeing may not usually cover up bleach marks.

Can I dye fabric white?
A 
It is not possible to dye a fabric white.

Can I dye denim?
A 
Yes, Machine Fabric Dye or Wash & Dye are best for dyeing denim however you will loose the light dark contrast typically associated with denim.

What do I do if I don't know what the fabric is?
A 
Cut a small section from an inconspicuous area e.g. the hem and send it to us and we'll let you know.

Can I dye faded items?
A 
Yes but you should use DYLON Pre-Dye first to remove the colour from the fabric and insure that you get an even colour.

Can I use dyes in the microwave?
A 
Yes you can use DYLON Hand Fabric Dye in the microwave. Microwave dyeing can achieve some good tie-dye effects however if you are looking for an even finish we would not recommend using the microwave.

Why do I need to use salt?
A 
You need to use salt with all DYLON dyes except Wash & Dye (it's already in Wash & Dye) because it opens up the pores of the fabric and allows the dye to be absorbed.

Will dyeing affect subsequent washes in my machine?

No, just make sure that you follow the pack instructions.

Approximate Weight Guide
 
We would always advise that you weigh the item that you want to dye to determine how many packs of dye you'll need. The table below gives you a rough idea of the weight of some regular items.

Colour Mixing
 
Fabric dyes will blend with the original colour of your fabric so you'll need to consider colour mixing rules.
 
    * Red + Blue = Purple
    * Blue + Yellow = Green
    * Red + Yellow = Orange
 
Alternatively, you can use DYLON Pre-Dye to return a fabric to a neutral shade before dyeing to obtain the colour close to that shown on the pack.

Returns

Should your item be defective we will replace the item/part upon it's return. The defective item/part in most cases will need to be returned via a Free Post return service provided by Quickdraw Supplies. If we are unable to replace the item/part we will offer an upgraded/alternative item/part or a full refund.


If you no longer require an item (one that is non-defective, and as described on eBay), you may return it to us at your own cost within 7 working days of receipt. Suitable packaging and care must be used to return the item. A refund less the postage costs of the original despatch will be issued upon receipt of the item.
