Our cutting machine was again recalibrated since replacing the new narrower spacers of the 25 blades. Every gasket which is cut from the one pass of the 25 blades spinning over 1700 rpm is then measured with digital calipers with an organized system of being strictly paired alike together [exact matching] grouped to thicknesses cut within .001 inches of our acceptable tolerance range. Our tolerance range on thickness of our orbital gaskets is now .044 - .053. This thickness tolerance means our strictly acceptable thickness, those gaskets which are rarely cut incidentally with a thickness of .043 or below are disposed of, and those cut rarely incidentally .054 or greater are now also disposed of. We only keep gaskets cut within our strict tolerance range of .044-.053 and gaskets are paired alike within .001 inches bagged together in 1x1 zip lock. Each batch of gaskets is precision cut with 25 blades in one-pass to produce smooth machined accurate cutting, the quality you want, the quality you pay for, and the quality you get. Within .001 inches is extremely accurate even by a machinests' or engineer's highest standards, more accurate than most manufactured goods and since we aren't programming robots to make computer chips where microns or nanometers are crucial, we deal with thousandths of an inch (your most common sized printer paper is .003 - .0035 thick this is a good reference guide.) Our thickness tolerance is .044-.053, our acceptable range and they are paired alike and bagged matched within .001 inches on thicknesses for the set meaning you could get a .052=.052 or .052+.051 or .046= .046 or .047+ .048 etc ( we do Not pair thicknesses together if Over .001 inches such as we would not pair a .049 with a .051 or else they would be 2 thousandths difference, our standards are more precise than 2 thousandths on thickness since they are 1 thousandth of an inch. Our gaskets are paired within .001 inches and greater than 80% of the time they are paired exactly the same thicnkess such as .053=.053, from our tolerance range of .044-.053. The extra thickness of our gaskets is a staple of DG Mods Orbital Gaskets; as stated under technical specifics the thickness of your original gaskets "OEM" is right around .030 thickness; however we feel that's far too thin for our product, where a red for instance almost looks like a black from 5 feet away, because there's just not enough rubber exposed to add much color to the equation. This product was meant to be shown and look awesome on your Juliet, Penny, X Squared, or XX X Metals, and at too thin of a thickness is hardly noticeable when installed so we believe this new tolerance will satisfy everyone the best we possibly can. We recently lowered tolerance of our thickness on these orbital gaskets that used to be .055-.059 from our original thickness since updating the blades spacing replacing the wore out spacers and dropping down thickness tolerance in order to satisfy pouplar request that was brought to our attention from a well respected member in the Oakley Forum community who gathered overall opinions of our product. The design of our (DG Mods) orbital gaskets are as portrayed exactly as explained herin, and shown in provided images; there is a comparison picture of our gaskets to the original gaskets "OEM" in every listing (just above); be sure to see the differences in that image. What we offer is a very durable extremely strong and unusually strechable multipurpose gasket; multipurpose, universal, or all in one meaning it can fit 4 different X Metal models whereas OEM orbital gaskets should you locate replacement ones, they are proprietary --shaped to fit only that specified model's orbital. You cannot stretch or reshape any other gasket the way you can these. The strength of our gasket is extremely high especially for its small size. You can stretch, gauge, and or reshape our gaskets in a variety of ways. Each method for the optional stretching or gauging of our gaskets for your Juliet, Penny, X Squared, or X Metal XX are described in the installation note included with order; all methods are easy to do and fully explained in this "how-to" installation note that comes with each order. Please do not attempt trying any of this type of stretching or gauging out with other company's rubber products as they are not made of the same type of rubber and cannot be manipulated or changed like DG Mods Orbital Gaskets can without the possibility of damaging or tearing them. DG Mods listens to how all our customers, the enthusiasts, the actual collectors input on our products and as a whole, evolves our products in the overall best possible way we can to suit the majority's desires just as we must in order to meet demand. We have a very strict constant quality check throughout production of all parts we produce so if they're not high quality cuts or if they don't meet our tolerance standards on total length, rounded diameter size, and thickness they go into the trash bin; dispite our best efforts to eliminate such waste many parts that are made, generally more than half of the cut gaskets still don't meet these standards so they don't "make the cut" and are disposed. You receive only the "cream of our crop" after all the time-intsensive labour by means of forming them carefully with very steady hands to meeting exact tolerances and cutting them just to name two of the required stages in order to make these parts available to you. After all our labour, and our picky as heck tolerances, we present you with our highest quality products and we hope that all of our customers respect what we have made available and leave positive feedback here in order for us to continue to expand our product line. We cannot guarantee how long these orbital gaskets will be available for purchase nor how long we will be manufacturing this product; although we have become most known for our orbital gaskets making these requires extremely time-intensive production labour, completely different process than what a "moldable rubber product" requires such as making temple shox, nosebombs, or earsocks. This is mentioned because we are very near completion now of making available our 2nd generation temple shox that we've been working on perfecting for months upon months for you. Look for them to be listed here soon. This is not said to undermine what it takes to make other said "moldable" rubber products, as they are also very labour intensive but much more so in the Development stages as once the product is made and exacting system for molds is accomplished which takes weeks to months of labour to perfect a quality product and the complete knowledge of a mold-making professional considerably underestimated by the consumer for the many both expected and unplanned processes often requiring new innovative materials and or mold making methods and or materials need to be "invented" to suit the needs of the specific application for that part with these virtually micro-sized rubber parts where highest quality and perfectly exact consistency is an expectation. Once however the development is complete, it is (normally) much easier at that point to manufacture the product from a mold verses our orbital gaskets which all take 3 days minimum of cure times to build them through free forming and heat curing the rubber material onto rods. However, if or when we decide to discontinue production of our orbital gaskets, they (our orbital gaskets) would then never be made of this same very firm very strong rubber a durable strechable elastomer not found at anywhere near the tear pli and shore hardness in any others on the market as these are. Most companies pay high expenses to have moldmaking services do all such stages as it is very difficult and a long intricate process [in moldmaking with micro sized parts high detail is important. The core piece is not only sanded to shape but all impurities are to be polished out just to name 1 small necessary step] but we tackle all such processes as it does take months, even years just to to discover the best methods through costly experimentation to eventually make it possible to produce each new quality rubber product for your Oakley X Metals, it really does! Costly in terms of hundreds of hours of researching and experimentation and costly in terms of dollars for all the many materials for experiementing until achieving a series of important breakthroughs and creating proprietary production methods used to create the part in an effecient manner. In our case at least there was no use in reaching out to getting useful advice from other rubber professionals. The dozens of times that we did, they either neglected to respond, they only wanted to sell another moldmaking product, or they just wanted to safeguard their own hard-earned secrets they obtained through trial and error themselves. Since each moldmaking application is so unique they normally don't lend you anything useful from their own discoveries and or they don't know your best route for what you are trying to accomplish. We feel our asking prices are extremely fair for all parts we produce as we keep them as low as possible in order to continue to conduct business. Material costs are very high; nearly everything we have is intentionally made with made in USA highest quality materials from rubber materials to pigments and well beyond.

With larger orders of 30-100 or greater sets, we are capable of producing hundreds in several colors over with a 4-6 day duration for the manufacturing processing and providing you with a generous discount. Why 4-6 days processing? Because of the long (strictly timed) cure time requirements of this rubber material to fully cure between each layer applied while forming them under heat in a hot box + the post curing after batch is fully formed (12 hour requirement) and rest period required prior to cutting, then the cutting process. These new t shox are fantastic, they fit real snug and it's really good to see some very low profile ones- with a brand new set of juliets they are great and will probably prolong the life of the flex coupler rubbers due to there being less stress here with the thinnest t-shox. I received the items fast!!! Many thanks for all, earsocks is a rubber harder and more durable than the original Oakley rubber. I installed the red earsocks in a Wiretap as well as Juliet and it fits perfectly, and the look is awesome. Many thanks for your trick, it works perfectly with MTB grips and with a lot of homeworks. I have long experience with disassembled Camelbak, and I use this trick with earsocks: I put water to boil. When water is boiling put the water in a mug. I introduce the replacement earsocks and the whole sunglass piece with the earsocks into water only a few seconds. I retire all items of the water and then is easily to extract and to handle the rubber. For my is a clean, cheap and fast method, and when it gets dry it fits perfectly. Try and ask me. It works with plastic and metal frame, I have Oakley models like Wiretaps, Juliet, M and Pro M frame, and always stay like new. Many thanks for all a pleasure to know you. My best regards. Important: Technical Specifics of DG Mods Orbital Gaskets
Each batch made is carefully checked and marked prior to cutting for meeting our strictly tolerated dimensions on total length and rounded diameter size for the gaskets. Each gasket cut from the batch by the machine is checked with digital calipers for thickness and strictly paired to thickness cut. Most gaskets are cut to .046, .049, or .052, thick. For clarification the thickness view is the only view shown when installed on your sunglasses; all photos shown of gaskets installed show this thickness view. Our new, since 10/03/12 tolerance is .044 to .053 inches. The extra thickness of our gaskets projects a stronger visual appeal showing more color. The original gaskets thickness from Oakley installed on these X Metal models are about twenty thousandths thinner than ours. (apprx. the stack of just 7 copy papers thick, .021 is about the difference. Measurements we got for originals: (Juliet: .030 - .034) (XX: .030) (Penny: .031) With our extra thickness it does not effect the way the lenses tighten down, nor cause any issues with any of these X Metal models whether factory lenses, or aftermarket lenses with this tight range of .044 to .053 thickness. Orders placed will receive any thickness paired from .044 to .053 strictly paired together within .001 inches, that's one thousandth of an inch of eachother very accurate!, for both your left and right gasket paired alike in the zip lock bag for each color purchased. Again, normally paired as: .044=.044, .045=.045, .046=.046, .047=.047, .048=.048, .049=.049, .050=.050, .051=.051, .052=.052, or .053=.053 inches (44 to 53 thousandths of an inch) but also can be paired .001 difference for instance .051+.050. For the non-machinest to give you some idea your printer paper is .003 (3 thousandths thick) for standard most common size 20 lb. 8 1/2 x 11 white printer and copy paper available anywhere in USA like Staples, Walmart, even the Family Dollar store. Since rubber has give when you squeeze, these are measured with only the lightest pressure to ensure highest accuracy. It doesn't matter which one you use of the pair for left or right side on the orbital. A harmless odourless silicone grease, the actual grease used for scuba gear is used to coat our rubber product at the time of cutting to preserve cutting blades, keep rubber dust down, and make the smoothest cut. They are wiped of excess grease and rubber dust after cutting prior to final quality check and thickness check and paired to thickness cut, then finally bagged in the 1x1 zip lock. A small film of the grease will remain which will condition and help preserve the rubber long term.
Rubber traits: as stated from the technical data directly from the manufacturer of the American company from which we purchase this rubber product (Made In U.S.A.). A durable hard yet flexible rubber material (shore A 70 durometer) that will not become brittle or crack even when regularly exposed to the outdoor elements and sunlight. Resists UV damage, keeps out moisture, resists acids and corrosion. Our rubber products are carefully formed in individual batches for each color over a 3 day period as the rubber product requires long cure times between layers. Because of the nature of how these are made, small variances in the shape of the end product will inevitably occur. They are produced to a high degree of consistency, but sometimes one color is shaped a little different than another because they came from different batches formed, but just install them and they are guaranteed to fit and look nice matching the contour of the front orbitals of your frames for Penny, Juliet, and with X squared model even with the square like shape of X Square'd orbitals. For Juliet, Penny, and X Squared models they fill some of the orbital from the wearer's side but not 100% as OEM originals do. They don't match the front orbitals as closely with the XX model but can be manipulated to work for it as described in the installation note. *If you'd like the gaskets only to be for your XX and would like them to be sent pre-stretched to fill a bit more of the front view + wearer's side of orbital, just message at the time of purchase with details; otherwise these are good to install directly on Juliet, X Squared, and Penny models without requiring a stretch and the stretching is optional and fully described for you to easily do if desired. X Squared model has smaller more square like shaped orbitals different than the other X Metals mentioned, but customers have been stating that they work well and have provided photos shown on Oakleyforum.com under the "diy-modding-discussion" section, "X-Metal Mods-Coloured Gaskets!" thread where customers have provided photography for fitting of our gaskets on Juliet, X Squared, and XX models. Our gaskets do not provide complete coverage of the entire orbital from the wearer's side, which is normally not shown anyway. This is why our symmetrical and center hole aligned gaskets can be used for all of these models that each are shaped quite differently while the original gaskets were designed to be proprietary.
Colors
The opaque and metallic colors are less extreme and more down to earth. We had many requests of offering more conservative colors for opaques that don't stand out too crazily, so we've answered it this year with adding many new colors to the normal opaques lineup. A couple of our original top selling colors: Red Ruby a.k.a. Red (for Ruby) was designed to match or compliment the hue on all existing types of Ruby lenses whether lighter or darker reds. Collectors have stated that they are also a good match for existing red rubbers out there (earsocks, tshox, nosebombs). Carotene Orange was intended to be a great compliment to all lenses with some orange in the hue like the very popular "Fire Iridium" lens from Oakley. If you would like to know exactly which lenses or frame edition that is pictured here, just ask.
DG Mods fluorescent colors are brightest being made from true fluorescent pigments. All fluorescent colors will also glow quite a lot under a black light depending on the intensity of the black lighting in your environment. Only the fluorescents will glow under a black light, not the normal opaque colors or metallics. For instance, pure white (normal opaque) will not glow under a black light where as white fluorescent does. Fluorescents are on a brighter scale such as Really Red fluorescent it looks almost as if it has magenta mixed with the red, but it is truely Red fluorescent which is considered a brighter shade of Red. We cannot match other companies colors exactly because of different rubber material + original untinted raw material color differences + different pigments. Matching rubber colors is not like matching paint. Any supposed exact matching of our rubber products to other existing parts is coincidental. Please do not expect one company's product to match another's color verbatim. However, many of our colors have been known to be a very close looking match to other colors for other existing rubbers and compliment the lens hues helping complete a unique theme for your X Metals allowing many more possibilities. Metallic colors are made from actual ground fine metal flakes, the same as what is used in metallic car paints. You might think that the metallics would have a grit feeling to them but they are just as smooth as the other colors to the touch, yet have the metallic effect especially noticeable at close range. Clear Ghost is see through and has high transparency with some cloudiness (no pigment added). Glow In the Dark Aqua is a phosphorescent. During the day it appears clear about the color of a block of ice. At night or in darkness it glows Aquamarine. Glow In the dark aqua automatically charges itself by absorbing rays from the sun or any artificial light source. The strongest glow may be obtained by wearing your shades during a bright sunny day or by charging it directly under any sort of desk lamp light. If allowing it to absorb directly under a desk lamp with a black light bulb for some period of time, a real strong glow will reveal in total darkness.
