Carolina, as with all my reborns, has been painted using only Genesis heat set paints & sealers.....I have reborn this baby as a newborn infant baby girl born early & just released from the hospital....she's a little peanut! All of my babies are custom painted according to the features and desired age when finished...my goal is to duplicate the depth & translucency of a living child's skin using progressive heat set layers. Applying subtle layers of skin tones, blushing, mottling & veining I truely achieve a remarkable 3D affect that looks SO realistic! I think the small details are extremely important to achieve as much realisim as possible....I always open nostrils, moisten eyes, nostrils & lips...much time is spent on feathered eyebrows & age dictated lashes. When appropriate I include moles, freckles, stork bites, spit bubbles & even a tiny bit of baby drool depending on the kit I am reborning.
Carolina has a darling front body plate making it so fun to pose her in short tops & diaper/panty outfits with tummy showing! She has been stuffed & weighted perfectly for her size & age...she is cuddly & has a wonderfully realistic feel in your arms. She has been stuffed with polyfil & the larger glass beads which I special order. Reborn baby dolls are collector's items & considered works of art....they should be treated with care, as with all works of art, & are definitely NOT recommended for children.
Sweet Carolina has micro rooted quality mohair in a beautiful soft black color...I have painted the feathered & finely detailed eyebrows in dark brown color & have hand rooted medium brown mohair eyelashes.....they lay softly against the sweet chubby cheeks of this peacefully sleeping baby. Hair, eyebrows & lashes all match her coloring nicely & look so natural, very subtle & baby-like..... Carolina's hair can be combed & styled in many different styles....she also has a modified pacifier which required no magnets for her or the pacifier!
Nearly everyone melts over baby hands & chubby little feet....I have to say it is always the very thing that people examine & enjoy first when looking at baby...even when it is a human baby at the store or in a restaurant. Hands & feet are so on display all the time that I really want them to be absolutely perfect. I detail both in broad daylight with a special tabletop magnifier...it's the only way you can get perfection on such a small scale! Baby's nails have been painted giving them a just clipped baby manicure/pedicure look & then double sealed with glossy Genesis varnish so they will stay perfect & not wear off or chip & peel. I just love this baby's gorgeous little hands & feet....they are so beautifully sculpted!
Baby Carolina is so adorable and I had a great time dressing her.. She is a little baby and can easily wear a large preemie or newborn size in most things. I had SUCH FUN shopping for her! All the clothing you see on baby come home with her with the exception of the blankets & toys which are photo props & not included in baby's layette.
