Retro-tastic Garden Egg Chair by Peter Ghyczy. Made by Ghyczy BV Holland.

Genuine authorised production by Ghyczy's own company he setup after moving production from East Germany to Holland so a high quality designer chair. Older vintage examples have well documented quality issues which were ironed-out when production moved. This is the very best example you will ever be able to buy.

There are some, well actually a lot, of cheap and nasty repros out there, but this is an original, certificated, signed and numbered example from Ghyczy BV Holland. Originally bought by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and displayed in the store at the museum during the Cold War Modern exhibition in 2008. Recognised as the world's leading museum of art and design, this design featured heavily in that exhibition which focussed on great design from behind the iron curtain during the Cold War era.

Collectable with great provenance this was one of three supplied as a special order. Very good condition ex-display - one small rub point (see last photo) where lid shuts.

General details here:-  http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O136993/garden-egg-chair-chair-ghyczy-peter/ and some more info here:-  http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/g/the-garden-egg-chair/ . Currently these are sold direct by the manufacturer at over £1700 plus shipping (  http://www.gardeneggchair.com/shop/ ) . Obviously the V&A Museum paid a wholesale price but as you can see from the original documentation it still cost them over £650 and retailed at the time in 2008 for £1200 - so not getting any cheaper! Still a bargain at double the starting bid.

Will need to be collected due to bulky nature but may be able to deliver in London/SE area within reason for an agreed amount of petrol money. Thanks.
