eBay

Firstly, I must apologise to all previous bidders and watchers. I have had a LOT of messages from eBay members asking why the auction was pulled. I was forced to pull the auction because I believed the console had broken, it suddenly lost power and I didn't want to risk selling it as I'd listed it as working.

However, I have now confirmed that the fault was in my step down transformer (I'm in UK, this is a US spec Saturn needing 110v). I have added 2 extra pictures to show the console running fine on my new 240-110 step down, and running the NTSC/J version of Panzer Dragoon RPG (not included in auction).

This is one for the serious console collector. I've had this in my collection for 10 years now, but it's time to give it a new home.

If you're looking at this, then chances are you already know what it is and how rare it is. This type of thing RARELY comes up for sale. It was made by a UK based company called 'Cross products', who I'm told are a specialist company making dev hardware for various video game systems, and were at one point actually bought over by Sega. A Cross made Mega-CD dev unit recently sold for $900 here on eBay!

I'm no expert, but from what I understand, game developers used this to test unfinished software. It is basically a heavily modified US NTSC console. The VCD port on the right hand side is a 'virtual CD port' which enabled unfinished game code to be ran directly from a development PC, thus testing it on actual Saturn hardware without the need to make a CD each time. CD-R's were stupidly expensive back then.

There is also a cable hard wired into the front of the console, and a selector switch which can change the consoles region code, I'll put a list at the bottom of the description. I have tested PAL and NTSC/J games, they work fine.

The console itself is in fair condition, there are a few marks and scratches on it.

Quick back story of where I got this: I bought it from a guy on eBay back in 2002/2003 or thereabouts. He claimed to work for a game publisher, and was given this to keep when Saturn development ended. I can't honestly remember what publisher he worked for, but it was obviously US based. Who knows what classic Saturn games where developed on this console!

As for postage, I'm afraid that due to the value and rarity of this item, I will only use a tracked service, which is quite expensive outside of the UK.

For a UK buyer, the shipping will be £15 by ParcelForce 24.

For the rest of the world, tracked priority shipping works out at £80.

Thanks for looking, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
