This beautiful original oil painting was done by Lucien Vannerson (1904-1982) most likely in the 1960s. He used bold brush strokes and bright colors to create iconic Western and Native American images.

About the Artist: Lucien was born in Ochiltree, Texas on April 16th, 1904. He spent four years in Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas. After teaching three years in public schools, he enrolled at Carver Chiropractic College in Oklahoma City and finished a four year course. He practiced in New Mexico, California and Arizona.

By 1940 Dr. Vannerson had moved to Southern California and settled near the Mexican border. This was the beginning of his artistic interest, and by 1950 he was gaining recognition as a self-taught artist as he displayed work in several galleries in the area. After moving to Mesa, Arizona, he began exhibiting in the O'Brien Art Emporium in Scottsdale. Starting in 1956 until the time of his death in 1982, Dr. Vannerson devoted himself entirely to painting.

While desert landscapes were his specialty, his knowledge of anatomy makes his portraits exciting. Hundreds of his paintings are owned by individuals, and prized by collectors all over this country as well as in foreign lands.

The painting is in amazing condition, in a beautiful frame, great for any Montana home.
The painting measures 29.5"w x 23"h and the frame is 38"w x 32"h.
