An outstanding antique French cameo vase.
Slender tapered form with slightly flared top.
Pale green glass with blue and dark green
powdered inclusions near the base. Cased
(overlaid) with opalescent white glass then
expertly acid cut back to depict a surround of
cherry blossoms and foliage. Polychrome
enamel further enhances the branches,
leaves and centers of flowers. Ground and
polished pontil on the base, surrounded by
opalescent white glass overlay (pic 8). Signed
in cameo to side: "Legras". The vase is
impressive in size at 13 1/2" tall and 4 1/4" wide.
Excellent condition. No cracks, chips or repairs.
Produced in Saint Denis, France Ca. early 1900's.
