Johnson Brothers Castle on the Lake Blue Round Salad Plate

Castle on the Lake is a pattern that Johnson Brothers manufactured in England from about 1939 until 1970. It was made in blue, pink and brown multi-colored versions. This pattern was produced on their "Old English" shape which is characterized by a 'rope' or 'pie crust' edge margin on most pieces.

The Round Salad Plate measures about 8" across and is in excellent, gently used condition showing no chips, cracks, repairs, stains or any other damage. The plate does show age related crazing but with no staining or discoloration associated with it. The surface shows only a few, slight utensil markings from past use.

If you could find this Round Salad Plate at a replacement service you would likely pay $20 or more for it. This plate can save you some money and you will have a great plate for your table or display!

Most English china is handmade. There is a certain small amount of variation to be seen in identical items manufactured at different times. This is especially true of characteristics such as transferware decal placement and plate size. Any given Johnson Brothers' plate can vary in size by plus or minus 1/8" from the 'advertised' size.
