Custom Labbit by higashi glaser, Fredericksburg, VA

Piece consists of an artistically modified Happy Labbit vinyl toy created for the Year of the Labbit show at the Japanese American National Museum, July 14-September 11, 2011.

higashi glaser are the creative team behind Zolo Toys and the designers of our Origami Kaeru mascot. The team was honored at the Museum's 2006 Annual Gala Dinner for their contributions to the creative mainstream of American design. Sandra Higashi and Byron Glaser developed a line of award-winning educational, innovative toys, books and calendars under the Zolo and Curious Bonz brands. Their creations encourage self expression in children and inspire their imaginations. Both graduates of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Higashi grew up in Gardena and Glaser in Santa Barbara.

This amazing piece has been created out of slices of colored pencils applied to the labbit to create a vibrant, textural pattern. The labbit is permanently affixed to the solid wood base creating a perfect setting for this jewel-like sculpture.

These artists have donated 100% of the proceeds from this sale to the Museum!

The piece will not be shipped until after the end of the show, September 11.
