Here is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a late Victorian example of amusing Taxidermy. The stuffed Armadillo has been arranged to stand and hold a scallop shell enabling its use as a visiting card tray.It probably stood on a table ready to receive gentlemans visiting cards. He really is the sort of novelty that the Victorians loved and would have caused lots of discussion and amusement. The item stands just under 12" tall (30 cms) ,the tail is damaged but is still firm due to internal wire(see photo) .The ears are a bit tatty but still there and apart from being a bit dusty he looks pretty good considering being at least 100 years old.
