About This Item

Up for sale is this vintage Sherwood S-9910 flagship stereo receiver. This unit is used, in great working order. The inputs & outputs function well with good power output but there is a bit of scratching in the volume knob. This is an easy fix. Cosmetically speaking, it is in great shape as well but it does have a ding on the top of the case towards the right side as pictured. In addition, the twists at the antenna terminals were replaced with screws as pictured. This does not seem to affect the working order.

Known as the best solid state Sherwood receiver ever made.

Few vintage receivers can touch it. Pioneer SX-939 and SX-1050, cannot - sound is too grainy; TOTL Sansui 881 ? - perhaps, but Sansui has too much THD/IMD and not enough power; fantastic Kenwood Eleven ? - really nice, but too much on the dark side(like certain tube amps); Sansui G-7000 ? - excels in transparency but lacks the bite, drive and insight of S-9910; Marantz 2270 ? - perhaps the only solid contender, and you will have hard time choosing between them. Still, Model 2270 does not have enough power, it's 70 wpc vs. 100 wpc, so perhaps it will take a Marantz 2325 to win the game.
And you know very well for how much Marantz 2325 go these days.

  • If shipping within the continental 48 states, please see above for shipping costs. If going to HI or AK and the item cannot safely fit in a bubble envelope, fees will be $11 for items under 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" or 11-7/7" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8" or $15 for under 12" x 12" x 5.5" or the actual cost for larger items. 
  • We ship on Monday & Wednesday so please keep that in mind if you are in a hurry to get the item. The cut off time is 7PM of the previous Sunday or Tuesday for the item to ship the next day.  We do not guarantee the item will ship on these days but it is very likely. We only guarantee the item will ship within 5 business days as stated. Also, be aware of any holidays that fall on Monday or Wednesday as Fedex & USPS does not pick up on those days. If the item is large, unusual or difficult to pack, it make take up to 5 business days to ship.
  • Insurance will be included in the shipping price.
