.... For those of you, new to my work ...
Well, my name is Johanna Parker, and I am a papier mache Halloween folk artist specializing in all things orange & black, and you are viewing an ORIGINAL, one of a kind collectible HALLOWEEN creation of mine! This sweet collectible owl is a unique treasure for the Halloween art enthusiast. He is featured in full on page 23 at the start of my Designer Profile article in Phyllis Hoffman's Celebrate Halloween 2011 Magazine ~ a seasonal publication, internationally recognized and on your newsstands right now! The article is a fun read, taking you down the path that led me to Halloween folk art as a career choice and love. And the photos, including this sweet owl were taken by both myself and my husband, styled in our home. I must admit, I am partial to this owl character, but my fingers are crossed that he finds an owl-loving home!
With his wiry, stylized wings spread wide, this dear owl is quite the charmer. A blend of Halloween hues along with a delicately sculpted textural surface add depth and a true feathered feel to this owl. Large, dimensional eyes glow and captivate the on-looker. He wears a sculpted bow tie and party hat for that festive touch. His wooden egg cup is intricately painted with patterns of dots, zig-zags, scallops and swirls in a Halloween palette. A painted "31" atop a diamond-shaped field of cream marks his front and our favorite day of the month! Twist off the owl to reveal a small cup below, offering the perfect place to stash tiny trinkets, jewels, a special note or whatever you desire.
My collectible folk art creations are made of papier mache, and are hand-formed without the use of molds, so each is a truly unique treasure! I have signed the undersides of this 2-part piece, including the copyright, date of completion and a "1/1" meaning that this design will not be reproduced. Measuring 5.25" tall by 6.5" wide, this unique owl would make the perfect conversation piece within your curio cabinet, mantel, shelf or nook! See photos for more details....I ship directly from my home and always include a little something extra in the box as a warm thanks from me to you!
And of course, a signed copy of the magazine that made him famous accompanies this piece.
As always, I promise this handmade collectible will bring many smiles for years to come!
And, I graciously THANK YOU for your BID! ;-)
as your support allows me to continue creating my folk art collectibles!
Smile, it's Halloween!
