c1890 New York Quotation Co. Stock Ticker Tape Machine. In 1889, the New York Stock Exchange acquired the Commercial Telegraph Co.. They changed the name to the New York Quotation Co. and in 1890,  the NYSE began manufacturing their own stock ticker- the New York Quotation ticker. This instrument became the premier ticker of Wall Street during the 1890's - 1930's. The NY Quotation Stock Ticker became synonymous with the NYSE and truly symbolizes this historic exchange. This piece, absent the paper holder, is an extraordinary specimen. The original glass globe is near perfect and the finish on the brass mechanism still retains its original shellac coating and is in superb condition. The gold leaf inscription on the cast iron base is completely intact. The ticker sits upon its solid wood pedestal whose underside is marked "278, N.Y. Gold 1923". A section of original ticker tape is stamped "December 10, 1964 12:11 P.M. An impressive piece of financial as well as New York Stock Exchange history.
