Delightful rural scene comprising two independent N-Gauge tracks, one inside the other, so that two engines can travel at once.
The buildings are made from Kestrel plastic kits and include church, farm house and farm buildings, village houses, pub, level crossing, station, water tower, signal box and platforms. Small bulbs light up under eight of the buildings. Scenery includes numerous trees, people, cars, cows, horses, fencing, tunnel openings, a telephone box and a post box. There is a back board with a picture of scenery on two sides and the scene is landscaped with hills and tunnels. Humorous touches include a house with a blue plaque, a man up a ladder painting a half-completed house, and a bride outside the church getting married.
Electrically powered switches operate points on both tracks so that trains can move into sidings at the station. The track and points are Kato unitrack kits.
A transformer supplies power to the lights, the switches for the points and to both tracks. The transformer dial operates the outer track, and another controller plugs in to it to operate the inner track. Both can run at once. The size of the layout is 136cm by 95.5cm. Please note, no engines are included (even though one appears in a picture).
Here's a link my husband's blog with descriptions of creating this layout and more photos. http://reprog.wordpress.com/2011/08/14/building-a-model-railway-part-0-our-old-railway/ If you'd like to see a video of the track in action, follow this youtube link: http://youtu.be/EofDJjRZYUE Thanks for looking!
