This is a good example of a classic Whitefriars design.
The vase is approximately cuboid in shape, with a slight taper toward the rim. It is made in two layers – an inner pewter glass layer enclosed in flint. The front of the vase is decorated with twelve circular protrusions. The base has a central polished out pontil. This vase has the pattern number 9670 and can be found on page 15 of the 1969 Whitefriars catalogue. It has a height of approximately 16.7cm, with a width at the rim of about 7.6cm and a depth at the rim of about 5.0cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the body and the base. These are to be expected from a piece of this age. |
