PARIS-BORN, MEXICAN ARTIST

MARTIN VINAVER
SIGNED LIMITED EDITION

SILKSCREEN

SURREALIST / ABSURDIST ART LIMITED TO 30 NUMBERED COPIES, SIGNED BY THE ARTIST.

An early work by this noted artist, dated the same year as his first solo show, which was held in 1968, in Mexico; followed by solo exhibitions in France, Germany, the United States, Japan, etc.

A whimsical image, which makes me chuckle every time I look at it.

Color silkscreen, total measurements: 20 by 26 inches; heavy stock, wove paper. Image size: 8 by 10 inches. Signed and dated in pencil by the artist, in 1968, with limitation, "27/30."

I’m also listing two other strange, early signed silkscreens by this artist, and an early exhibition poster, for an exhibit in France where the silkscreens were exhibited.

Martin Vinaver was born in Paris in 1959 and grew up in Mexico. Later on he spent time in the U.S., France and Japan. Presently, with lithographer Per Anderson and printer Rafael Ruiz, he co-directs the graphic arts center La Ceiba Gráfica in Coatepec, Ver., Mexico where he opened the first moku hanga (japanese wood block printing) workshop in the country. He has developed the technological means to do it in Mexico without importing goods from Japan [from the artist’s c.v.]. He’s an accomplished artist, who’s exhibited globally, and whose work is held by museums in the United States, France and Mexico.
