THIS AUCTION IF FOR 2 TWO AFTERMARKET NEW HONDA CB400 CB450 CBN REBEL450 INSULATOR CARBURETOR HOLDERS FITS YEARS 78/UP, also fit CM400 (EXCEPT THE CM400a-automatic it has different carbs) and CM450. 2PCS

they will also fit 1970-71 vintage CB450 Honda's as well. But they require you to drill one of the holes out a little so that the holes line up perfectly between the flanges on the cylinder head and the intake boot. The reason for this is that the rubber is a little thick inside the bolt holes and offsets the alignment by about 2mm or so, how to do that with many thanks to my customer Phil ebay Id philip3074 (20)

To install the new carb insulator boots on a late 60s or early to mid 70s CB450, you need to use a 1/4 inch carbide or titanium hardened drill bit to ream the holes out towards the center of the boot. You only need to remove about 1/32 of material from each hole in order to make it work. The best way to get it right is to remove a little bit and then insert the mounting bolts and slip the gasket on to ensure that the alignment is correct. Once you have that aligned properly, the boots should bolt on perfectly. Before you bolt them on, make sure that you have them oriented right as the boot collar angles up or down depending on which way you install them. On this application they should angle downward to compensate for the upward offset of the engine flanges. Make sure to use flat washers on the mounting bolts to equally distribute the pressure on the flanges of the carb boots as they have a thick, but pliable rubber coating. This will ensure that you have a tight, fit and no air leaks between the engine flanges and the carb boots

Hey, man! The boots fit my 82 Nighthawk 450 PERFECTLY. They weren't the EXACT part, but who cares? My old boots had a little steel reinforcement, but honda doesn't even make them anymore, so yours are the best alternative out there.
