Hodson 503SR Gypsy Jazz guitar

This a a gypsy jazz acoustic guitar handmade by the late British luthier David Hodson in 2004.  David died in 2007 and had been one of the leading makers of Selmer-Maccaferri style guitars for playing gypsy jazz.  The guitar is the deluxe model 503SR as found on Hodson's old web site.  This was his top model, designed  to replicate the style and sound of Django Reinhardt's Selmer #503 guitar.  It has a spruce top, laminated rosewood sides (like the original Selmers) with amazing grain pattern on the back, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. The neck width is 1 3/4" measured at the zero fret, and the scale length is 26 3/8".  Like in the Selmers, there is no truss rod, but it has the right amount of relief and the action is just right for gypsy jazz playing.

It's in great shape, with only very little fret wear, and some pick marks below the strings.  Hodson's are known for their thin finish and light construction, like real Selmers, giving them a very strong voice, which this one definitely has.

The guitar comes with the original molded hard case and a sheet from David on caring for the guitar.
