FYI: The Fairwind was originally built as the 21,989 grt rms Sylvania (2)
by John Brown & Co Ltd, Glasgow, for Cunard Line in 1957.
She was the last of four sisterships contracted by Cunard during 1954-57; Saxonia, Ivernia, Carinthia and Sylvania.

She sailed on her maiden voyage from Greenock (Scotland) to Quebec and Montreal on June 5, 1957.
Her last Cunard sailing was on April 24, 1968. She was sold to Sitmar Line and became their Fairwind in 1968.
She was briefly renamed Sitmar Fairwind in 1988, before becoming the Dawn Princess
when Princess Cruises acquired Sitmar. Princess sold her back to the Vlasov Group
(the previous owners of Sitmar) in 1993, and German tour company Phoenix Reisen operated
her under charter as Albatros (1) until 2004, when she was sold for scrap.

More FYI:  For those of us who just have to know: Sitmar is the acronym for Societa Italiana Trasporti Marittimi.
Sitmar was formed by Russian-born, Alexandre Vlasov, his ships all carried a "V" for Vlasov on their funnels.
