A stunning strapless 50’s dress in a confection of crisp white tulle, ribbon and taffeta. What a statement this would make at the upcoming prom season! It is also lovely enough to be worn as a wedding dress – definitely worthy of a very special occasion. No maker’s label remains but this dress appears to be professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend.
Note the details on this stunning gown – the strapless (boned) tufted tulle bodice, the ruched satin cummerbund waistband, and especially the extremely full fine mesh tulle skirt with swirling tulle ribbon decoration. There are actually three layers to this skirt – an underlayer of ivory satin acetate, a middle tiered layer of white tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with a layer of white tulle.
This dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in ivory satin acetate. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.
No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a small size that would likely best fit a modern size 2 or 4.

Condition
This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. No yellowing or discoloration. No unsightly tears in the tulle. The only minor mentions are several tulle repairs to the skirt. These were professionally repaired using transparent filament thread and are relatively inconspicuous, as they tend to get lost in the voluminous folds of fabric. The largest repair is on the front skirt hemline and would be removed entirely by hemming the tulle by 2”.
