    Pictured and offered for sale is a antique turtle pin or pendant  having a art deco design of black onyx and mother of pearl, and constructed fancy to allow all appendages, head, legs and tail, to move about freely creating a very sparkling effect from the many marcasites.  Backside shows the pin and beneath the tail a pendants bail exists.  Note  each appendage, head and tail are  seperately and loosely ( but permanently ) attached to the turtle by each having a circle or round bale that fits onto a peg and then the siversmith attached a permanent silver ball which hold each piece in place, yet quite loose.  Any movement creates a small vibrating type action which then allows the many marcasites to glitter as the light directs.   Quite attractive.  The turtles back with the inlaid curved onyx against the mother of pearl pieces create a very elegant art deco appearance.  The length is 2 1/4 inches, width 1  3/4 inches, a proper sized piece.  Worn, it has a presence, eyecatching.
