About this Baby Blanket

You are bidding on a 28 x 38 inch baby blanket that is hand-crocheted using Red Heart 100% Acrylic Yarn. According to the manufacturer, this yarn is machine washable and dryable. It was crocheted in a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is new, never used, and is labeled with the crafter's personal label. The blanket will be sent with the information cards included in the pictures of this item.

This blanket is posted for purchase through an auction benefiting the American Cancer Society. It’s crafter chose that 100% of all proceeds of the winning bid be donated directly to the American Cancer Society in the hope that, through it’s ongoing research, future generations will grow up in a cancer-free world.

About the Crafter

A lymphoma survivor, I was diagnosed in August of 2013 and have been officially in remission since my January, 2014 PET scan. After a one-week stay at my local hospital in New Jersey in August 2013, I continued therapy with a local oncology practice. It was the quality of care by the staff of these two facilities that inspired me to do more for cancer research. Through my eighteen weeks of treatment, and to the present, I have taken home-made baked goods for the staff and patients on special occasions. When time allows, I'll stop and chat with patients who might feel like a bit of conversation. I took up crocheting shortly after I began my treatment as a tool to keep myself occupied with positive and productive work and not dwell too much on the normal fear my condition would cause. Recently, I have crocheted items that the nurses can give to patients to brighten their day-to let all of them know that others are thinking of them and recognize their battle After my one-year remission anniversary, I needed to do more for the bigger cause than what I do for my local care givers. After some research and at the suggestion of the American Cancer Society, I began to crochet baby blankets for auction  with 100% of the entire proceeds going directly from the bid winner to the American Cancer Society through Ebay’s Giving Works ~ http://givingworks.ebay.com/
