This is a beautiful example of the first production car to carry the M badge and I believe, it is one of only 11 left on our roads. They hardly ever come up for sale but I see that Classic Heroes of Suffolk has one being advertised at £35,000.

The body work  is very clean without a single ding, dent or spot of rust. It has been re-sprayed in 2013 by the previous owner in the original Arctikblau, seam sealed and undersealed and wax oiled. I managed to source a set of period motorsport stripes from a bloke in Holland.  I have continued to invest in the body work and I had certain panels repainted to achieve a more perfect finish.

In 2014 the car was given a partial mechanical rebuild.  The engine was fully rebuilt, new fuel tank, lines and hoses.  New clutch and master and slave cylinders, new Bilstein dampers, H&R springs, bushes, strut brace, brake calipers rebuilt. Mechanically it is superb and the engine and transmission as sweet as a nut. It pulls exceptionally well and is as happy sitting on the outside lane as it is stuck in endless stop start traffic.  It does not burn oil and fuel economy is reasonable - about 27mpg

The interior is excellent although the seat material is not the original corduroy. The dash and door trims are in exceptional condition. Sun roof works as it should.

Other than the left side electric mirror, everything electric works as it should.

The car comes with the original and now exceptionally rare, 14 inch BBS Mahle wheels which I had profesionally reconditioned with period gold and my own touch, diamond cut outer rim. The tyres are brand new Michelins.  I have hardly used them as is evident from the pictures

For day to day driving, I have a set of 16 inch BMW alloys which were given the same stunning gold/diamond cut treatment and sit in Pirelli P6000 205 55 16 tyres.

I have a reasonable file of back papers but there are gaps where the early owners hadn't been bothered to keep paperwork

I'm in love with this car and have used it year round in the two and a half years of my custodianship. but my circumstances have changed and now wish to move it on.  My asking price reflects the price I paid plus the cost of the improvements I have made in a rising market for old BMWs.
