Beautiful Black Spiderweb Dinosaur Gem Bone Specimen with Red “Lakes”

This great natural specimen is another offering from The StoneCarver.
Spiderweb is one of my favorite types of gembone because it allows views deep inside the heart of a bone. The large red “lakes” found in this piece are absolutely beautiful. This specimen has a few stabilized fractures, but it still makes for a fine, inexpensive specimen for the collector.

Note the unique, gentle twist-contour shaping!

As with any fine bone, it should be seen in direct sunlight under magnification to appreciate the full range of beauty it offers!

The polished face is 2-5/8” x 1-1/2” and it is 7/8” thick. It weighs 114 grams.

The photographs show all sides of the specimen.

SURE TO VIEW THE PHOTOS AT THEIR MAXIMUM MAGNIFICATION!

Agatized dinosaur bone can only be found on the Colorado Plateau in the Brushy Basin member of the Morrison Formation. This stratum was laid down 146 to 156,000,000 years ago, corresponding to the Late Jurassic period. The dinosaurs that inhabited this region during the Late Jurassic included Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Camarasaurus, Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, and Torvosaurus (a theropod nearly the size of Tyrannosaurus), to name just a few!
