 This is an after market modified part, to fit the following models.....

Kawasaki GPZ750 R, GPZ900R, GPZ1000RX, GTR1000, ZX10, GPZ1100, ZZR1100 C or D, ZZR1200,ZRX1100, ZRX1200, ZL750, ZL900, ZL1000 ELIMINATORS.

It is now widely known, that there is a serious design flaw, in kawasaki's starter chain tensioners fitted to the above models.

  Shown in the pictures, are examples of the standard tensioner, which uses a rod & spring loaded lock plate arrangement , to self adjust, and take up any slack in the chain drive. All very good when the bike is new ! but, they are a time bomb waiting to go off !
   When the tensioner becomes even slightly used, it can allow the tensioner to slip and lose tension. This loss of tension allows the tensioner to flap back & forth & come into contact with the clutch pressure plate. The result of this is that the tensioner chips away at the pressure plate & clutch basket & gradually wears it away, depositing debris into the engine. In extreme cases, if this is left un-noticed, it WILL reach the point where something will break ! thus sending chunks of metal into the crankshaft area OR the gearbox area. STUDY THE DETAIL IN THESE PICTURES, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE CLUTCH HAS HAD 3 SPRING PILLARS BROKEN OFF BY THE TENSIONER ROD !!!!!(thats 3 springs, 3 spring collars, 3 spring bolts & 3 spring pillars & bits of broken tensioner loose inside this engine !!!!)....... Also look at the 3rd gear pinion from a zzr1100 which locked up & broke due to a piece of tensioner lockplate becoming jammed in the teeth !!!! This does not bear thinking about if this were to happen at speed !!!!THIS COULD QUITE EASILY KILL YOU & YOUR PILLION ..... NO JOKE !

          MY tensioner upgrade, eliminates ANY possibility of this happening, as it uses the existing Item, which is modified using a precisely made aluminium block, with a stainless steel tensioner adjuster & locknut. It is very robust, and has been tested in extreme Dragrace, and extended road use. It requires only the minimum of adjustment at services, and gives you complete peace of mind that your engine will not self destruct.

   This set up works on exactly the same principal as a 'lockup cam tensioner'. Once fitted and adjusted correctly, there is NO undue movement in the tensioner, And NO more tensioner worries fullstop !
