I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE LOOKED AT MY ADD!!! I HOPE THE ENGINE BRINGS YOU FOND MEMORIES.   The locomotive sits in my dining rom beside my computer. The tender is kept in a spare bedroom. I do this to keep it in mint condition. This is a Southern Railway PS4 Pacific in .1.6 inche scale....It took me over nine years to build with over 9000 hours of construction time.  I had to spend hundreds of hours findng the prints and plans from the Sothern Railroad to get as close to the full scale locomotive.I have seen similar ones in this scale but without the super detail I put into this engine. She will go as fast as the track will allow!!!

Most of the Foundries used to build this locomotive castings are out of business. It Burns coal but is set up to burn propane. All the appliances on this engine work and are not dummies for looks. The cab and locomotive and tender have all the proper gold pinstripping and decals. The Locomotives timing was set by a dial indicator on the left front cylinder to get the exact Dead center of the piston stroke. The safety valves are at 125 PSI and 130PSI....All the fittings are silver soldered to insure strong and no leaking joints.  The Boiler was safety tested to 500 Psi  and the State of  Virginia has it's stamp of codes on the boilder backhead.  The boiler is made of 1/4 plate boiler steel for Safety and the flue sheets and mud ring are made of 5/16" boiler steel.  It drains the cylinders of water buy operating cylinder cocks operated form the cab. Also in the cab is a working set of butterfly doors that operate by the pushing a cab floor pedal.

It has a working power reverse that is a pleasure to operate.   The Elesco Feedwater heater works and heats the water to about 500 degrees before entering the boiler, working off a water pump in the tender. The engine also has two water injectors and no problematic axle pump.......  . IT HAS AN OPERATING HODGES TRAILING TRUCK WITH A CENTERING DEVICE,  THE TRUCK ALONE TOOK 4 MONTHS TO MAKE....

..The tender is made of solid brass and not flimsy fiberglass. It has thousands of hand driven rivets and then  soft soldiered to seal it up tight. It also has baffels in it to prevent water sloshed during breaking or passing through a curve at high speed..The locomotive also has working air reservoirs that hold 120 psi air for the brakes if so desired. At the moment the engine brakes work off boiler steam... The brake shoes are suspended between the drivers and main rods  just as the southern did it...the headlight and cab lights and running lights all run from a reliable battery. Even the head light numbers glow. The head light is very bright and makes for great night runnng   A mechanical lubricater injects steam oil into the throttle and on to the steam chests and from there on to the cylinders. The cylinders also have snifting balves that open automatically to allow air into the cylinders during drifting.

.All the rods have bushings that may be replaced instead off wearing the rod surfaces. the rods are of dull chrome and not painted...The rods are made of bronze to take the impact of hard throttle openings. The engine has a proper ash pan to collect the ashes and an door that has handle operation to dump ashes in a proper location......the locomotive has two whistles.  one that is a scale whistle that blows and proper sized whistle hidden to look like an air resevoir for proper sound..........the boiler has two blow down valves to blow clean the mud ring and blow down the boiler at the end of running the engine....The tender has a very fine copper mesh to keep out any substance that could contaminate the tender water and foul an injecter. ...,,,,the locomotive is lacking a westinghouse air pump,to not have anything that is a dummy on the engine. (NO WORKING PUMP IS EASY TO FIND.)...The mounting brackets are there.

.......THE SMOKE BOX HAS THE EXACT BUILDERS PLATES ON IT AND SAY RICHMOND ON THEM , AS WHERE THE ENGINE WAS BUILT AND THIS ONE WAS BUILT........THE ENGINE IS STRIPED IN GOLD LEAF PIN STRIPING........THE TENDER HAS THE PROPER SIZE SOUTHERN AND MARKINGS ON THE REAR, WITH A SCALE LADDER FOR THE BRAKEMAN..........THE LOCOMOTIVE DRIVER AXLES AND TENDER ALXES HAVE SEALED BALL BEARINGS  TO KEEP THEM CLEAN..............FRONT MOUNTED BELL DOES RING AND A PAD PUT ON IT FOR AN AUTOMATIC BELL RINGER.........THIS LOCOMOTIVE IS VERY POWERFUL AND WILL PULL  15 -20  FULLY LOADED CARS .............THE LOCOMOTIVE WEIGHS 750 POUNDS , THE TENDER 250 POUNDS, .......THE LOCOMOTIVE HAS AROUND 12 HRS RUN TIME ON IT TO TEST ALL ITS SYSTEMS, THE LOCOMOTIVE IS ABOUT 10 FEET IN LENGTH AND THE TENDER ABOUT 4 FEET ..........SHE IS READY TO STEAM AND PULL A  TRAIN...........COMES WITH 1 GALLON STEAM OIL, ( NOT MOTOR OIL ) WHICH IS EXPENSIVE AND SOLD BY THE PINT........I'LL STEAM  IT UP FOR A RUN FOR A VERY SERIOUS BUYER.............I WILL GLADLY ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.
