I have always had my own opinions, doubts, speculations, along with dozens of other “know it alls” telling I was right/wrong about everything I thought about this frame over the years. However of everybody so far, I believe this message that was sent to me- to be the most accurate so far, so I am posting it. Here ya go-

This REDLINE frame is a late 1980, this frame was made by Linn kastans good friend Phil Haskll for redline in victorville ca. Phils frames start at 340,000 this is the 2xxx made by him..he started making them in fall of 1980 ,linn told me this a week ago..the dudes dont know this,,thats why they always say a frame with a 340,000 serial number is 1979.. fall of 1980 all redline frames started with a 340,000 serial numbers to make redline look bigger then it was and to not confuse with the over seas numbers..this is what linn told me.. ok this frame has nothing to do with the factory team..yes its chrome but theres alot of chrome ones,,look at old bmx mags web site,,,go to dec 1980 bmxa mag and down load and look on page 5 at the redline ad and theres your chrome redline sold to the public..zoom in ,you can see that the is no proline fork in chrome only the #104's that are for the 5 inch head tube for the proline frame...thats why all the prolines in chrome have no tear drop proline cutout..the factory team never ever used the ones like yours only the proline which the public coundnt get in chrome..look at stu in the ad proline teardrop forks..find any photo of a team dude and they all have proline teardrop fork..the proline fork is lighter and thats what racing is about getting the lightest stuff plus they are plenty strong.. your decal is a stock mx 2 decal for 1980..i have a frame made 500 before yours and it has a proline 2 decal form factory which is the wrong decal too..redline would make mistakes and or use what ever they had..hope this info helps.

So there you have it, and so far to date I would agree with this reply above everything else I have researched and have been told in the past. So I will update the description to this exact reply and let the auction ride. HOWEVER IF THE COMPLETE BICYCLE DOES NOT SELL IN THIS AUCTION IT WILL BE PARTED OUT AND THE FRAME AND FORK WILL BE AUCTIONED BY ITSELF.
