Description
This is an alternative to the expensive ATARI SIO Cable. (Please note that this kit requires some assembly)

It does not use the regular SIO plug but an edge type connector designed to make contact with SIO pins of an Atari computer or a peripheral.

The PCB is designed to fit the SIO connector just right so no excessive force is required, and the PCB thickness is just right so that SIO pins won't be bent.

The cable also features a Power Led on both ends, powered by the Atari computers SIO pin 10. Best of all, the cable costs only half of what you would pay for a real SIO cable.

The only requirement is that your Atari's or your peripheral's SIO pins should not be already bent out of shape.

In case you plug the cable the wrong way (PCB upside down) you will immediately notice because
the cable will feel loose in the SIO connector, and due to the design, the edge connector won't make contact with any of the SIO pins.

Needs assembling
This is a kit version of my alternative SIO cable (fully assembled version is available here). I offer this kit to save you even more money if you're handy with a soldering iron and willing to do some wire soldering. PCB's come ready to use, you just need to solder the loose wires at both ends of the cable to the PCB's 13 holes. Just solder both ends of each colored wire to the same hole (i.e. 1-1 .... 13-13) on both PCBs. You will also need to secure the cable to the PCBs using 2 supplied zip-ties via two elongated holes at the bottom of each PCB.

Note:
If you only want to use original Atari peripherals with this cable, you only need to connect 5 of the available 13 wires as follows, color of the wires used doesn't really matter, colors chosen below are the popular colors used by the original SIO cables, they are for reference only. Unused wires can be cut off to avoid clutter.

SIO 3 -- RXD (Orange)
SIO 4 -- GND (Black)
SIO 5 -- TXD (Dark Green)
SIO 7 -- CMD (Purple)
SIO 10 -- 5V POWER/READY (Dark Blue)

** LAST WEEK OF SALE **

I've been selling with eBay for many years and maintained a 100% feedback rating until recently. I have been doing my absolute best to maintain my spotless rating
throughout these years and was successful in doing that until i was finally hit with the unavoidable negative/neutral feedbacks from buyer's with questionable behavior.
Questionable because they chose to take the easiest route of simply giving a negative feedback instead of contacting me and trying to find an agreeable solution to their
"problems". I haven't had a 100% positive feedback for so many years by avoiding, ignoring and keeping my buyers unhappy!, so why not contact me first when you have a problem, why not reply to my follow-ups, i just don't get it!, what those people gain from negativity is beyond my comprehension.

When I tried to contact eBay to protect my reputation, I've got no response from them either!. Also trying to reach them via a simple customer support email is impossible. You have to go through a maze of predefined issue descriptions and select the "appropriate" one to contact them. If your issue is not covered by those selections you can not contact them at all.

Even if you can find the correct predefined issue, and contact them with that all you get is a canned response, they choose to be a soulless, mechanical money making machine with no consideration to human aspect of these transactions and buyers and sellers.

I realize there is no way to change the facts about eBay, so instead of whining and moaning, and putting-up with this BS, I choose to change my way of selling, that is to stop selling via eBay. I really don't care how this will effect my sales, as feeling like a person who's concerns are addressed, like they should be, is more important to me than the money made through eBay. After all they are paid a commission from every sale i make and i have the right to ask them to be treated like a person in return, not some sort of many making machine.

Therefore, from now on I will not list any more products on eBay once this listing expires here, but will sell through my website exclusively. I will still be the same vendor with the same
respect and care for my customers, only i won't let a few bad apples tarnish my reputation that i worked hard to establish. So see y'all later..........
