Raspberry Pi Model B Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Adapter with Translucent Red Box

The Xtronix ‘Power Over Ethernet’ (PoE) adapter is designed to be plugged directly on to a Raspberry Pi printed circuit board and to supply +5 Volts at up to 1.25 Amps to the Raspberry Pi. The adapter conforms to the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet standard and is intended to be powered by an IEEE 802.3af compatible Switch or Injector where power is supplied over the Ethernet Cable. This allows a Raspberry Pi printed circuit board to be powered via the Ethernet cable at up to 90 metres from a compatible PoE injector.

A translucent red plastic box is also supplied that allows the Raspberry Pi Model B with the PoE Adapter to be mounted inside the box. The box is in two parts, the base into which the Raspberry Pi PCB together with the PoE PCB is clipped into and a lid that fits on top of the base protecting the boards from damage. The box has apertures that allow the various Ethernet, USB, HDMI and Audio cables to be brought out of the box. The box also extends around the memory card  protecting it from damage.

The box was designed for the original Raspberry Pi PCBs. The B+ and the Model 2 will fit, but please note that the micro USB power connector is close to one of the fixing lugs, however it is still possible to plug the power connecting lead in properly.

The box dimensions are approximately: Length 130 mm, Width 85 mm, Height 65 mm.

See our other eBay listing if you want to buy the  Xtronix ‘Power Over Ethernet’ (PoE) adapter without the box.

A 4 pin connector on the adapter PCB allows the user to connect a suitable console cable and a 26 Way connector allows the user to connect to the Raspberry Pi GPIO connector. A metal pillar and screw allow the PCB to be fixed to the Pi PCB (Later Raspberry Pi PCBs only - earlier Pi PCBs did not have suitable fixing holes).

See our other eBay listing for a PoE adapter in a box for the Raspberry Pi Model B+ Model 2B and Model 3B.
