Raspberry Pi Model B Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Adapter

The Xtronix ‘Power Over Ethernet’ (PoE) adapter is designed to be plugged directly on to a Raspberry Pi printed circuit board and to supply +5 Volts at up to 1 Amp to the Raspberry Pi Model B. The adapter conforms to the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet standard and is intended to be powered by an IEEE 802.3af compatible Switch or Injector where power is supplied over the Ethernet Cable. This allows a Raspberry Pi model B printed circuit board to be powered via the Ethernet cable at up to 90 metres from a compatible PoE injector.

A 4 pin connector on the adapter PCB allows the user to connect a suitable console cable and a 26 Way connector allows the user to connect to the Raspberry Pi GPIO connector. A metal pillar and screw to allow the PCB to be fixed to the Pi Modle B PCB.

The Xtronix PoE adapter will fit the new Raspberry Pi Model B+ and the Raspberry Pi Model 2. The fixing pillar supplied with the adapter PCB must be removed when fitting to a Model B Raspberry Pi PCB or a Model 2 Raspberry Pi PCB, however the GPIO connector on the adapter only has 26 pins rather that the 40 on the Model B+ and 2.
