Many kinds for many uses, find yours.




Every stone has its own "effect" on a given surface. It is like how it traps the light into the steel and as versus, how it reflects the light.

Usually softer stones make the blade look coarser but more forgiving when the blade has some little scratches. 

Harder stones make the steel look finer but a too quick progression or a bad prepared blade can become shiny and scratchy with them.

Suitas stones are well known to be very quick. Uchigumori stones are more on the slow side.




The best strategy is to use every advantage of many complementary stones in order to have a smart progression.

The finger stones are flattened and lacquered with handmade japanese rice paper.

As you can see on the picture they come sorted, packed and labeled.
