Very Early 1964 Martin F-65, Maple Top, Back and Sides, two Black DeArmond Dynasonic Pick-ups in Vintage Mint Condition with Original Martin Green Lined Hard Shell Case
How often do you get the opportunity to buy a 1964 Vintage guitar that looks like a 2011. This extremely rare Martin double cutaway F-65 electric looks like it just left the factory. The finish is like new, it plays and sound like a dream and the electronics are quiet. The case has a small tolex tear but that's it. The Martin F-65 is a hollow thin body archtop with 2 awesome hot DeArmond Dynasonic single coil pickups that are both nearly 12 ohms each, dual volume and tone controls with a 3 way toggle. The neck on the F-65 is almost exactly like a D-28 which makes the F-65 the ideal electric for an acoustic player.

This incredible guitar features:

  • Double cutaway hollow body,
  • Laminated maple top, back and sides,
  • Tasteful, traditional body binding,
  • One piece mahogany neck with a flamed mahogany headpiece,
  • Three-per-side single line Kluson tuners,
  • Bigsby compensated bridge,
  • Raised black pickguard,
  • Martin Bigsby tremelo, and
  • Original hard shell case.

I have added a picture of the bridge which is a period Bigsby bridge that is correct for the original vibrato but may not be original although it came with the guitar. I am aware that the standard Martin bridge supplied with Martin electrics was a plexiglass bridge. I would acknowledge that the F-55's and F-65s that did not come with a Martin Bigsby tremelo universally came with a plastic bridge. However the plastic bridges were not designed for use with a Bigsby tremelo and didn't work well in any circumstance. Both Guild, Gibson and other makers delivered Bigsby equiped guitars with bridges and/or saddles modified or specifically designed for Bigsby tremelos to pivot when the tremelo was engaged to better maintain proper tuning. I have seen pics of other tremelo equiped Martins with a bridge like this. Regardless buyers are going to have to make their own decision as to whether the bridge is or is not original. The guitar certainly plays better with this bridge than it would with a bridge designed for a harp tailpiece.

About International Bidders

I do consider international bidders from certain countries on a one off basis. Any international bidder must contact me so I can get their agreement via email on shipping, customs declaration and payment before I accept their bid. If payment is made via paypal, I will only ship fully insured whichever service is cheapest and I will not declare values less than the purchase price. I will ONLY ship to the paypal address. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Alternatively if payment is made via wire transfer, I will ship via any method the buyer wishes with or without insurance.

At the buyers request with payment via wire transfer I will ship internationally through the USPS if I can. However, there are 2 problems with the USPS:

maximum insurance through USPS is $650 to certain countries on the less expensive services so I can take no responsibility for lost or stolen or damaged items. UPS offers full insurance at $.90 per $100 but is extremely expensive for international shipping. Fed Ex is not much better and their insurance rules are tougher. Also USPS can only ship a guitar to certain countries through their GXG service which is 1-3 day service (most expensive). Further the largest package USPS can handle internationally has combined measurements (length + girth) of 108 inches and if the GXG service is the only available service a max dimension of 46". Accordingly standard guitar boxes may be too large for certain destinations. Bottom line is that international buyers should expect shipping costs in excess of $400 if they pay via Paypal whereas payment via wire transfer enables me to ship to most countries via USPS with the maximum insurance available for less than $150.

Shipping & Payment

PAYMENT IS EXPECTED WITHIN 4 DAYS.
If no arrangement for payment is made within 4 days, an Unpaid Item Dispute will be opened and the item will automatically relist.
Do NOT bid if you do not intend to pay within the 4 DAYS.
I report all nonpaying bidders.

Consistent with EBay's published policy I only accept PayPal and prefer Pay Pal E Checks if using Pay Pal. Because of the EBay policy, bidders that do not have a PayPal account are blocked from bidding automatically. If you find you are having problems bidding contact me and I will review the circumstances and take appropriate action to facilitate your bid. If you have questions about payment contact me before bidding. Please note that when you submit payment via PayPal, I can ONLY ship to the confirmed PayPal shipping/billing address. No Exceptions.

I ship my instruments via an expedited service whichever is cheapest and offers appropriate insurance for the full value. The flat rate in the auction does not include insurance. All items will be insured for the full purchase price of the auction. UPS charges $.90 per $100 of value, USPS is much less but is capped. Your invoice will include a charge for the actual cost of insurance. No Exceptions as it avoids problems on the back end.  Items will be shipped within 2 business days of our receipt of Clear Payment into our account from PayPal or any other accepted payment method. I do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska or anywhere outside of the contiguous 48 US states at the flat shipping rate. The shipping will be billed at actual insured cost for locations outside of the contiguous 48 US states  I know shipping is expensive but I do not make money on shipping and do not charge extra for boxes, packing material, tape, etc used in my meticulous packing. I prefer to use a guaranteed three day or less service over ground because they take greater care with the packages and the additional cost is small in relation to the purchase price.

If you have any questions, please ask away and I'll find you an answer. Thanks!
