Here's an absolutely stunning double-breasted coat from renowned British manufacturer Montague Burton of Leeds. Naturally the coat is of outstanding quality - believe me when I say that the pictures simply don't do it justice. The stylings and materials are pure 1940s, and the date on the tailor's label seems to be 23rd August 1948.

Double-breasted coats from the Thirties and Forties are often known as 'King' coats, due to the style being popularized by King George VI. Following the success of the film The King's Speech such coats are highly sought-after. Coats of this vintage in visibly tatty condition are selling for £200+ elsewhere on the Internet - so this is a great opportunity to buy a real classic at a very reasonable price.

Feature of the coat include: luxurious pure wool top cloth; peak lapels and a double-breasted front; genuine Bakelite buttons - six at the front and three at each cuff; two front handwarmer pockets with heavy cotton moleskin lining; a breast pocket; a wallet/document pocket on the inside; a genuine rayon lining; a single rear vent measuring 19 1/2".

Remarkably the coat is still in excellent overall condition - essentially it's flawless/immaculate except for a tiny near-invisible moth graze near the hem at the back (photo 10), and a little light wear to the lining of the right sleeve (photo 11). These very minor flaws are detailed solely for total accuracy of description, and should not deter you from buying an outstanding item.

The coat has just been professionally dry-cleaned, brushed and aired, and is 100% ready to wear.

In terms of sizing the coat is unlabelled, but fits like a slim 36 Long, and should be suitable for someone around 6' tall with a 34-36" chest, depending on whether it's worn with a two or three piece suit underneath.

Returns are accepted for this item, although to save yourself the expense and general faffing around please consider the following measurements very carefully: armpit to armpit 21"; armpit to cuff 18 1/4"; shoulder seam to cuff 27 1/2"; collar seam to cuff measured along the outside of the sleeve 33 1/4"; shoulder seam to shoulder seam 18"; length, base of collar to hem 47 1/2".
