Available is this 1962 hardcover book without dust jacket titled "Hekura: The Diving Girls' Island" by Fosco Maraini and publihsed by Hamish Hamilton in London.  Many photos of the diving girls in this 95 page book.  The culture on this Japanese location was for the ladies to be topless.
