Japanese Architecture Book - Kayabuki -
Traditional Japanese Thatched Roofs.
This is one of my favorite things to look at in Japan - the Kayabuki, or Straw
Thatched Roof. There are still villages around Japan where Kayabuki are
preserved and maintain, and its really splendid visual treat.
This book focuses on Kayabuki on smaller private residences, and shops.
This would be a great reference book for anyone interested in Tradition Japanese
Architecture. There are some photo sequences showing how Kayabuki are made
and maintained. There is very little published information in Japan about
the construction of Kayabuki.
