Hammerflügel Friedrich Kuhlbörs
Breslau ca. 1840/45

 Beschreibung:
Das Instrument wurde um 1840 in Breslau erbaut. Es befindet sich in unrestauriertem Zustand. Der Korpus ist aus Palisander (Deckel gestrichen), Tastaturbeläge ersetzt, Wiener Mechanik, belederte Hammerchen, Gradsaiter mit größtenteils originaler Besaitung, Stiefeldämpfung mit Hebel, zwei Metallspreizen, originale Wirbel, Stimmstock, Steg und Resonanzboden sind in gutem Zustand. Notenpult und Rollen an den Beinen fehlen. Die Deckelklappe ist mit Metallapplikationen verziert.Das Vorsatzbrett ist signiert mit:
"F. Kuhlboers Breslau.”
Der Resonanzboden hat eine handschriftliche Signatur in deutscher Sprache (eingebrannt, nur teilweise lesbar). Der Hammerflügel ist dreichörig besaitet (Bass zweichörig). Das Instrument besitzt zwei Pedale (Dämpfungsaushebung und due corde; Lyra fehlt).
Vergleichbare Instrumente von Johann Friedrich Kuhlbörs (Vater) stehen im Kloster Michaelstein und im St. Cecilia's Hall Museum of Instruments in Edinburgh. Das Instrument benötigt eine Restauration.

Description:
Grand Fortepiano made by Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhlbörs. This instrument was build around 1840 in Breslau and is in unrestored condition. The case is made in rosewood (lid was coated with colour), keyboard coverings are replaced, viennese action, straight strung with mostly original strings, treble strung, two metal braces, original tuning pins, wrestplank, bridge and soundboard are in good condition. Music stand and castors are missing. The hammers are covered with leather.

The soundboard is signed (partly legible). Two pedals controlling dampers and due corde (lyra is missing).Two early instruments from Johann Friedrich Kuhlbörs (father) survived. One is in the collection of Kloster Michaelstein the other is in the St. Cecilia's Hall Museum of Instruments, Edinburgh. The Instrument is in need of restoration.
