RK-725A Pulse magnetron for the first radars embarked during the 2nd World War terrestrial or maritime air

It is the magnetron invented by the English in 1942 in its American manufacture version destined to the USAF and the US NAVY during World War II.
The proposed version has a red anchor US NAVY on the goat-tail magnet.
Its dimensionally optimized design comes from Bell Telephone and Western Electric. This is an optimization of the J21A.
Note the letter D on the red reference magnet D168226 so it is Western Electric for the magnet part

The 725A magnetron was originally manufactured in 1942 by Raytheon and also by Western Electric during the Second World War.
It was successfully used as the first normative radar magnetron in the allied armies, and was subsequently taken over by Amperex, Mullard, Northern Electric, Philips, Toshiba, Valvo and CFTH (tube fitted to this magnetron of our ebay offer)

It was used among other American side on the embedded radars AN / APS-3, 4 and 15

Characteristics:
  • Frequency 9375 MHz (S Band)
  • Pulse up to 60 Kw
  • Heating filament under 6.3 volts 1 ampere.
  • Output by waveguide parallel to the axis of the cathode.
  • Weight 6.5 Kg
  • Taille du support 18 cm x 6 cm
  • Hauteur hors tout 24 cm
This material by definition at the end of life, whether by natural reduction of the magnetism of the magnet and the tube already used.
