The Queen came to the throne on February 6, 1952. Her coronation took place on June 2, 1953.

Her Majesty celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002.

A Diamond Jubilee is a rare milestone. Queen Elizabeth II is only the second British Monarch to reign for 60 years. Her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria—who celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897—was the first.
