This is for a very rare early Victorian portable copier by Sampson Mordan called the 'Patent Portable Copying Presses' . It is in book form with a leather cover that is embossed around the outer edges. Both sides have a large gilded star weight with hinged clasps that locate and lock together when the book is closed. Inside is the original label that is advertising the maker 'S. Mordan & Co's, Patent Portable Copying Presses'. The label also gives full instructions on how to make a copy of a written page with the help of blotting paper and water. The star on the front is marked 'S.Mordan & Co  Patent' and the clasp is numbered 1242. This is a super relic of writing history, it is extremely hard to find, i haven't even seen this particular version before, and to find it in such superb condition like this, i dont think you could, you. you wont find better example.  It measures 215mm (8.5") x 150mm (6") when closed.
