First thing, the purple machine IS NOT the one we are selling, it's the photo of the WHITE one. We just wanted to show it in the water.

Secondly, don't know much about these other than what little we've read and been told. These have become collectors items. We bought this with every intention of using it as we live in a city that's mostly lake! We just can't get out and enjoy it, we've not even got to try it! The gentleman we bought it from said this is one of only 7 that were brought to the United States. It was made by Yamaha in 1993 FOR ONLY 1 YEAR.

I found this little clip from someone else that had one:
"I took mine out for the first time Wednesday. It is gear driven with a 60T "chaingear" driving a 16T on a 1 - 2 transmission. I am going to replace the 60-16 gears with sprockets and chain so I can get a lower gear. I didn't have my GPS with me Wednesday so I can't give a true speed but it seems to be as fast or faster than my 18' kayak."

I found this from a 1993 publication about the LakeRunner:
"Yamaha Lakerunner. This pedal-powered, 80-pound machine is sort of like a bicycle for the water. The frame is made of lightweight, but high-strength, aluminum, and its twin hulls are made of a tough type of fiberglasslike material called Polyethylene, the same stuff used to make whitewater kayaks. Yamaha says the craft can reach speeds of about 10 mph. The Lakerunner can accommodate only one person. Its operator sits upright in the seat and moves forward by pumping a set of pedals. The Lakerunner is steered by a cable-operated rudder that is connected to a joystick next to the seat. The pitch of the propeller can be adjusted for shallow, mid- and deep-water positions. The machine, which as an adjustable seat, is designed to be transported on the roof or in the trunk of a large car."
