Not only does it look bad,it concerns you,as to next time it's gonna sink in even farther.I thought why not put a polyethelene board in to replace the wood.Then i looked at what that would require to install.@#$*&

  Retired after over 25 years of machine work,a lot spent in racing,i began to think about a solution,that would be simple, functional,and most importantly solve the problem.Torque arm,spread the load across

a large clamping surface,reduce the vibration,save the transom surface,and maybe even add a lil more prop dig by stopping transom flex.

   My solution, the ForrestFire Performance Transom Saver or as i like to call it Torque Arm.Made from

6061-T6 Billet Aluminum,1.5 inches wide,.375 or 3/8 thick.The heavy duty stainless steel washers sit in

counterbore for even more strength.The one pictured on my 87 TX-17 tracker is the first one made.

    I have less vibration,a more positive feel in the steering,and i picked up a couple mph,although i would never claim more mph by installing one.Best of all it looks ok and is prolonging the life of my transom.

The clamp load is now spread across over 17 inches.

   UPDATED order instructions.Decide what the total length of  the

torque arm will be.try to leave the same amount of overhang on both ends in other words like say 3 inches past the motor mount bolts on each end,if you don't have enough space to make each

overhang the same that's ok but 2 inches would be my minimum 

Beer cartons make great template material.make the template 2"

wde.now layout a vertical line,example 3" from each end to the center of each mount bolt Fold the template and mail to me in a flat rate envelope. We can fill in the final dimensions on the phone.
