MOON BOOT- The story of the lunar overshoe and the race to walk on the moon
Hardback 137pp. Large format 308mm x 250mm with triple spread foldout sections.

Did you know that only two pairs of moon boots were ever brought back from the moon?

Told for the first time the fascinating story of the world's most famous and iconic footwear - the Apollo lunar boot. Written with the assistance of the original manufacturer's historian, this limited print run first edition book uses never seen before images from ILC's archives - the original manufacturer of the moon boot, and the Smithsonian.

Starting with a brief history of the space race that covers both the American and Russian programmes the book follows a detailed and illustrated history of the early prototypes, design, construction, testing and manufacture of the first boot to touch the surface of another celestial body.

What happened to the Russians? The rockets and moon lander from the little known (and until the 90's still secret) Soviet moon program are all covered together with never before seen photos of one of only three or four surviving Soviet moon suits.

The Apollo space suit is explored in detail as well as official NASA portraits of all twelve moonwalkers. This book is essential reading for anyone that has gazed at the moon and remembers those heady days when man first set foot on the moon.

This edition is part of a single print run of 550 copies and is the first time it has been made available to the public. The rubberised cover and spine are both uniquely heat embossed.
