Frame has some wear around the edges due to age. REF: Vintage oil-based serigraph by master California printmaker, Warren Woodward. Born in Australia and moved to California in the 1950s period. He is an acclaimed printmaker and modernist. Influenced by cubism and the modern style. Active in Southern California in the 1950s and 1960s period - painted cubist styled semi abstract landscapes, harbor and genre subject matter. Signed lower right, "W. Woodward 68". Warren Woodward (20th Century) -- Born in Australia, Warren Woodward became active in the United States after World War 2 when he moved to California. Woodward became a master printmaker and was known for his semi-abstract to cubist-impressionist works. He produced many embossed serigraphs and original oil paintings while in California. His work was sold through Van Amstel Company in Culver City, California. This label is often found on the back of his work. He also sold his work in Tucson, Arizona via Rosequist Galleries. He was known to have moved back to Australia but returned to California in 1960..it was during this period in which he produced some amazing oil paintings with cubist impressionist influences. A very talented painter, printmaker, and overlooked California modernist.
