I have spoken to the recipient about his service and he has provided me with a copy of his service from his Red Book, which is included and discussed his service in the Falklands War. John Terence Hughes enlisted 10.1.61 & served in the BAOR, UK, Canada, Aden 1965, France, Cyprus1976, Norway, Trucial States, Kenya and the Falklands South Atlantic theatre from 12.5.1982. He retired 18.8.1985 after 24 years and 241 days service with the Rank of Colour Sergeant. His Long Service Medal was awarded in 1977 and was with a Gratuity. In the Falklands War on 7.6.1982 he alighted from the Sir Galahad to Bluff Cove just hours before it was attacked by five Argentinian Dagger and five A-4 Skyhawk fighter aircraft with devastating consequences. He was of course closely invloved in the aftermath. All guaranteed original, no copies.
