Own Midge Ure's iconic silver glasses!

Supplied with autographed Certificate of Authenticity, hard case and photographs.

Midge Ure is very kindly giving me his iconic silver Phillippe Starck glasses, worn by Midge during Ultravox's 2010 Return to Eden reunion tour, to auction to help me raise the funds needed to get the official Ultravox website back up and running.

WHY?

As you’ve probably noticed if you're a fan, the Official Ultravox website, Ultravox.org.uk, has been down since mid-April. This is due to a major cock-up at our host, 123-reg, which you may have seen splashed all over the news - they had an error in an automatic cleaning-up script which deleted 60 servers’ worth of VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting. Unfortunately, Ultravox’s VPS was on one of the affected servers. The site is and always has been fan-run, and in the wipe I lost some customised software which needs replacing. I usually cover all the site's expenses myself, but this is too much for me to cover alone.

WHO ARE YOU?

For those who don’t know me, I’m Cerise Reed. I've been a fan since 1980 and I’ve been running the official Ultravox fanzine
Extreme Voice (or EV) since 1984 and the official Ultravox website since 1996, plus the official Facebook and Twitter profiles (I can’t remember how long they’ve been around!). I’m a graphic designer, and I do this in my spare time - I'm not employed by the band or a record company, I don’t get paid to do it, and any financial support required has come either from me, or from occasional donations from fans like us. Over the years I have given away countless signed CDs, signed tour merchandise and personal items from the band, in EV competitions. I've worked with EMI, Island Records, Strange Fruit and the BBC on designing Ultravox re-releases, I've sat in on the Abbey Road remastering sessions, and I've designed tour merchandise and original album covers for Midge Ure and John Foxx. When Ultravox reunited to have their two Return to Eden tours, I worked with Live Nation to get 'fan pre-sales' of tickets, so that the diehard fans were in the front rows. I've poured my life into this fandom for the past 30-odd years, and now I need your help. Hence this one of a kind, one-off auction.

WHAT WILL I GET?

The glasses are shown here by Midge in the photos, which were taken at his home yesterday. He has also typed up and signed a Certificate of Authenticity, confirming their origin. You will receive the glasses, their hard case and the Certificate of Authenticity. Also, a high res digital copy of the photos shown will be emailed to you.

Good luck - happy bidding! Ask away if you have any questions.
