This amazing antique Victorian era brown mohair houndstooth wool winter sport ice skating coat and cape dates from the 1880s. It is made of a brown and cream color houndstooth check woven wool fabric, with a brown mohair and silk soutache braided border trim edging. This wonderful womens winter sportswear ice skating coat has a long floor length fitted tailored style, with slight bustle back button trim accents,  a high neck band collar, long full sleeves, double breasted button front closure, side slit skirt pockets and is fully lined in a heavy wool fabric inside for warmth. The coat measures 44 inches long, with a 30 inch bust, 24 inch waist, 40 inch hips,  20 inch long sleeves and is 12 inches across the back shoulder seam. Included is a matching short cloak cape capelet, with a high neck band collar, broad shoulders, mohair trim with large decorative carved brass buckle button closures on the front and is fully lined. The cape measures 11 inches long and is 18 inches wide across the shoulders. It is in fair as-is condition, missing a buckle button off the cape, with some frayed wear and missing trim  and worn areas on the houndstooth wool nap fabric  (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of antique Victoriana womens sportswear wearable art!
