This is auction # 1 of 6 unique watch auctions, all proceeds from these 6 auctions will go to the children's charity Bravehearts of the North East.  http://www.brave-hearts.com/

Mark Knopfler is the Patron of the charity which is based in the North East of England and was founded to recognise the exceptional courage shown by children who are battling illness or adversity. Parents, nurses, friends and family are able to nominate children so their courage can be recognised. This happens at special award ceremonies where children are rewarded by receiving a Bravehearts crystal and a gift of their choice.

I hope there is something in these auction lots you might like to own, whether you are a watch enthusiast, a lover of Mark's music or someone who just wants to donate and own a great item in aid of a great charity. The main purpose is raising funds for Bravehearts but winning bidders will get a pretty much unique watch with a great story attached. The auctions will add provenance to the watches too - so worth printing out the photos and the details if you win and not forgetting by bidding and winning all proceeds will go to put a smile on a child's face, what could be better?

If you fancy just donating to Bravehearts, however little, that would be a great help and very much appreciated.

Many thanks to all who have worked to bring these auctions to people's attention.

Watch details....

Vintage Lemania WW2 British military watch. The strap signed by Mark.

Collectors know these Lemania W.W.W watches as part of what is called "The dirty dozen"

12 different W.W.W watches were produced by different manufacturers in various amounts around 1943, the Lemania being one which is pretty difficult to find, these W.W.W (Wrist.Watch.Waterproof) watches are highly collectable but are also something which you can wear and enjoy too. I will supply a Military type strap in addition to the signed one.

This example has a very nice dial/hands and the usual battle scars on the case, don't forget these are WW2 military watches and were knocked around a lot.

The case has signs of wear on the lugs, the case back has strap rash/light corrosion which I have left alone. The numbers on the case back are Q 6448, 6660, 6560. The number on the back of the lug is 240 so not matching the case back but this is very common with these watches, when they were serviced by the M.O.D the watchmakers did not pay much attention to these tiny details. The watch has been recently serviced by horologist John Senior who is the go to person for vintage military watches so rest assured the watch is running very well.

The manually wound movement is caliber 27a.

The watch measures 35.6mm across not including the winding crown.

Please note! This is important>

Due to the nature of these auctions with all proceeds going to charity, these lots are not returnable/refundable, by bidding you are agreeing to these terms. Normally returns are not a problem as noted in my returns policy but for these 6 charity auctions that does not apply.

Please, this is not the time or place for non paying bidders, I hate to mention this but non paying bidders cannot be tolerated due to the nature of these auctions, I am sure honest eBayers/bidders will understand that sentiment.

Have fun and many thanks to all who bid or donate to this great charity.

Cheers, Michael
