I'm concious that this auction is being launched immediately after Comic Relief.... but you can't time natural disasters can you. The absolutely shocking footage from Japan, and the remarkable attitude and dignity of the Japanese people, I couldn't think of a better cause to donate this piece to.100% of the value of this auction goes directly to Global Giving's Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

If you're simply an F1 nut looking for a means to donate to help those on the group in Japan, or an art collector looking for an investment opportunity, or one of my existing collectors, please consider this carefully. Otherwise please promote to anyone you think may be interested! This is the first time I've ever auctioned my work through ebay - for sure it wouldn't sit well with my gallery partners in doing so and would normally devalue artwork to be honest - but as a means to reach the widest audience and raise the highest amount for those in need in Japan, its perhaps the most efficient means in this case.

This is a completely unique piece, no reproductions in existence, and will never be recreated. My style has moved on in the 10 months since, so nothing close will be created again. To make this even more of a collectors item McLaren have agreed for Jenson and Lewis to sign this piece! Spaces left either side of the collar 'just in case' when I was painting it. I have email confirmation this week from McLaren Group Head of Brand John Allert, that as the auction is entirely for charity, he will arrange for them to sign it - I can forward this email on request. Due to this seasons fly away races about to kick off this won't be achieved before the auction finishes - but I pledge to coordinate this happening as soon as is realistically possible afterwards. The portrait is currently hanging in Evergreen Gallery in Daventry if anyone would like to see it in the flesh - but as of today is being removed from sale through the gallery.

As a contemporary portrait artist, I am represented by galleries across the UK - creating officially licensed work for the Bruce Lee family, Ali, Star Trek and Mr Men. Recent investors include Theo Paphitis who I've worked with in recent weeks on a Comic Relief fund raising project, raising over £6k. For more about me to substantiate who I am please see www.pauloz.co.uk or www.facebook.com/paulozartist.

I would sincerely hope that with so much at stake that no-one would bid on this unless they meant it.... but if you have feedback of less than 10 or 95%, please email studio(at)pauloz.co.uk as corroboration before bidding.

The listing is for collection only - but shipping/meeting to hand over can be arranged after the auction with the winning bidder. Whether you wait until after the piece is signed by Jenson and Lewis or not is your call, I'm flexible on that.

Happy bidding! Paul Oz
