PLEASE READ:

I get most of these items from estate sales. Please assume that cats and dogs have smoked 10,000 cigarettes and have eaten gluten-coated peanuts and snorted ragweed pollen in a house heated by a wood-burning stove while wearing/using these items -- and bid accordingly or NOT AT ALL. Stuff may smell like smoke. zOMG! You might have to wash and/or dry clean clothes you buy from me! All sales final & no returns unless you can convince me I've egregiously miss-described something. If you still want to bid after reading this, then that's great; if not, then that's fine and dandy, too. Thank you and happy auctioning.

SPECIAL NOTE ON CLOTHING: Pay attention to the measurements, PLEASE. I'm rapidly tiring of customers who buy clothes according to the tag size only. Tag sizes can wildly vary according to age and manufacturer. I take a lot of time to measure the clothing I sell. If you buy something from me counting on the size label to be accurate for your needs, it's NOT MY FAULT IF IT'S A POOR FIT just because you're unable or unwilling to either read the measurements I post or know your own measurements for comparison.

SPECIAL NOTE ON CLOTHING #2: Best offers which include comments along the lines of "my offer is reasonable for what is basically just old used clothing" will be promptly declined on grounds of principle even if the offer is objectively reasonable. Go into a vintage boutique and try to use that line, please! Odds are the proprietor will be even more offended by your insult than I am.

I can take up to 5 business days to ship because I live so far from the post office. Usually I ship once a week, sometimes twice, but if you're not willing to agree to the estimated delivery date on the order details page, then PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BIDDING. If you need your item sooner don't wait until after you've paid to dictate special handling to me; I will consider such requests BEFORE purchase, not after.

BEST OFFERS: If you see something you like but feel my asking price is too high, then by all means MAKE ME AN OFFER. The worst I can do is turn you down. If the listing is a Buy It Now/OBO, then I'm likely willing to bargain, especially on combined purchases. However, ridiculous and insulting low-ball offers are likely to be rejected with extreme prejudice. A good rule of thumb is to never make an offer below half the amount of my asking price. Sorry I have to be that way about it, but you wouldn't believe how often I've been all "yay, I got a lot of offers today" when checking my email only to discover some awful person has made one dollar offers on items worth fifty.

Clarification: Having said all the above, I'm not obliged to take anyone's offer. On books, I feel I'm pretty much on the money with my asking price. On other items, I'm not likely to accept any best offer of more than 10% off my asking or sale price, especially if I've just recently listed the item. To my mind, best offers exist as a way for me to reward buyers of multiple items, not as a way to reward someone who's discovered my item 2 hours after I've listed it.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS EXCEPT FOR CANADIANS: If Buy It Now does not work, please use the Make Offer option instead. Because I require immediate payment for BIN, the option often does not seem to work for int'l buyers; MAKE OFFER instead. Thank You Merci Danke Dziekuje Gracias Grazie Spasiba Tack!

**** I will combine shipping and give a discount within reason. Clothes are easy to combine; books and china, not so easy. Basically books can only be combined with other books due to USPS media mail rules. China and glassware are difficult to combine with anything else except maybe small items of clothing. Just be reasonable in combined shipping requests.

SPECIAL NOTE ON BOOKS: Books are heavy. I ship them via USPS, media rate. This means the book(s) will take longer to get to you, but you'll pay less. I reserve the right to ship individual books in whatever I have handy, be it a plastic mailer, a tyvek envelope, or a bubble mailer. Free shipping is often offered for individual book listings. Anal-retentives who demand their books be sent in a box for free are invited to either shop elsewhere or to contact me to make prior arrangements for special handling which most certainly will NOT be free. Sorry I have to be that way about that, too, but once again someone has tried to hold me responsible for an issue they should take up with the postal service.

***PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A BUY IT NOW IF I DO NOT HAVE THAT OPTION LISTED IN THE AUCTION. THANK YOU.

FEEDBACK: I want five stars and try to earn them. I sell a lot of stuff. DON'T PANIC if I don't give feedback immediately. Sometimes it takes me a while to give feedback, but be assured that I will give it as long as you give it to me, first. Unlike many sellers, I don't have a bot program that does it automatically -- I do all mine "by hand," as it were. Please don't nag me to GIVE. IT. NOW. NOW! NOW. I don't expect instant feedback from my buyers; I'd appreciate it if buyers do not expect it from me. ****

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING POLICY: I'm willing to ship outside the U.S. if you're willing to pay whatever USPS charges plus maybe 1$ handling for especially cumbersome items. Shipping charges on especially valuable items may include a 10$ registered mail fee, which is not my fault but paypal's and the postal service's. Countries and regions of Exception: I will NOT ship to Mexico, Central & South America, Africa or Italy. Sorry. Also, I am not responsible for any taxes or customs fees that may apply to or accrue with such transactions.

Finally, while I must conform in letter to eBay's rules, in spirit I reject and resent its apparent goal of requiring sellers to adopt a Wal-Mart style customer policy, full of no-questions-asked guarantees and warranties for used items sent through postal channels. Not only is it unfair, it defies common sense. My policy is this: you be reasonable and I'll be reasonable. Blaming me for something that is not my fault is not being reasonable. And I dare say that if you were in my position you'd feel the same way. Thank you.
