Years ago many M17, M17A1 and M17A2 US military surplus gas mask were sold here on e-bay.  Many of these did not include all of the accessories that came with the original mask.  So your gas mask will appear to be complete and authentic, I offer these accessories.  Manufacturing date will vary.  All dates will be prior to 1990.

 

Here I offer the WINTERIZATION KIT, M4, CHEMICAL- BIOLOGICAL MASK – Unused in package.

A LITTLE HISTORY –

 

These Gas Masks were a trusted piece of the soldier’s equipment in the US Military for over 40 years in the protection from Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical agents.

 

 

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE M17 – M17A1 – M17A2: 

 

M17 – original

 

M17A1 – the original gas mask was changed to allow the use of a recession tube, and drinking tube.  Use of a recession tube or drinking tube is not recommended for untrained personnel.

 

M17A2 – done away with the recession tube, and kept the drinking tube.  The use of the drinking tube is not recommended in a NBC environment except in an extreme emergency condition.  The end of the tube will be exposed to the outside air when it is taken from the mask to be placed in the drinking orifice of the canteen.  This would increase your chances of exposure to the elements.  It is best to leave the drinking tube alone, and keep it covered by the mask.
